Welcome to Derinkuyu, an underground city that once housed up to 20,000 people. In the Cappadocia region, famous for its cave dwellings and underground villages, Derinkuyu stands out for sheer size and complexity. Locals began digging in the 500s BCE. The city consists of over 600 doors, each of which can be closed from the inside. Each floor could be closed off as well. And just to make attacking completely impossible, the entire city was deliberately built without any logic. Its maze-like layout makes navigating the city nightmarish for unfamiliar invaders.
So there’s this hashtag trending called #makeuptransformation, which is basically just people making fun of how dramatic face contouring is(seen in the first picture). I AM SCREAMING

The Department of Magnificent Manicures is hungry at the sight of these delectable sushi nails. They were handmade by Japanese Twitter user Ayamon, who lives in Nagoya, Japan and doesn’t actually think her fancy new nails are very appetizing:
“I made sushi nails, but they’re kinda gross lol!”
We still think they’re mouthwateringly awesome.
This stunning installation of 888,246 red ceramic poppies was created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins and stage designer Tom Piper in commemoration of the centennial of Britain’s involvement in World War I. Entitled Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, each flower represents a British or Colonial military fatality.
This staggering installation is a work in progress, with the ceramic pippies being planted by volunteers in the dry moat that surrounds the Tower of London. The planting process began a few weeks ago and will continue throughout the summer until a final flower is symbolically planted on November 11, 2014.
